MAIA DAL BERGER

Maia is a creative director, filmmaker & educator driving projects that connect communities, artists and musicians across Sydney. Primarily a film editor, she currently tutors the BA course at AFTRS and has worked as editor on factual television (Northern Pictures, Klinik), Directed music videos (Haiku Hands, Oyobi) & Produced short form documentaries (Adhoc Films, BC Films, NSW Health, Accessible Arts, Authentink Tattoo). 

 

Maia's creative output is consistent, eclectic and ethical. A passionate educator and community leader, she has presented & produced radio (FBi Radio), managed events (Honey Trap Sound System, Star Shitty Casino), and developed workshops (St Vincent de Paul, dLux Media Arts). She is currently building Sydney's first female run sound system and teaching film at AFTRS.

 A Documentary showing the intimate portrait of four young women Cassie, Tylah, Rosie, & Tekesa. Through their stories of the summer bushfires in Australia.

"THE PARAROOS" DOCO

A feature length documentary (50mins) following Australia's Para Olympic football team to Argentina as they fight for their place in the world championships. The film explores a triumphant journey of friends & importance of sport in mental and physical rehabilitation. Maia was Senior Editor, Producer & Music Editor.

A seven part podcast series bridging feminism and the electronic music scene in Sydney. Made in partnership with Amy Kisnorbo, Maia produced and presented under her DJ alias 'Maya Gold'.

BARE NECESSITES (FBi Radio)
2018 - 2020 

Bare Necessities is a weekly radio program dedicated to presenting the music from cultural groups that have traditionally been neglected in Australian media. Winning Best Music Program award from Community Broadcasting Association of Australia. Maia co-hosted, produced and presented the show for two years.

STAR SHITTY CASINO
On going

The Star Shitty Casino was launched in 2014 as a response to NSW Gambling laws. Star Shitty is a performance artwork, which encourages the heartbeat of counter culture to continue to party, and work together to create community, art and meaning.

HONEY TRAP SOUND SYSTEM

Sydney's first female built and operated sound system. Aiming to bridge gender inequality in Audio by creating safe and inclusive training, spaces and events.

VIDEO WORKSHOPS
On going

Maia develops and runs video & stopmotion workshops for participants of all ages and diversities. Working in shelters and learning centres around Surry Hills and Woolloomooloo (St Vincent de Paul & Salvation Army), Rural & community Art Centres (dLux Media Arts) and Film Schools (AFTRS)
